What a Wonderful World

We have been learning about how to take care of the Earth. We can take care of the Earth by recycling, walking or biking, and turning of the lights in our house. In art we listened to the song "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong and painted what we think makes the world wonderful.

Last Friday our student council planned a Spring Carnival. Everyone was put into a mixed team. That means there were students from Kindergarten to grade 6 on each team. We did a lot of fun activities like toe jam, tug-of-war, soccer, hockey, an obstacle course, and lots more.

Salt Crystals

For the salt experiment we put warm water in a jar. Then we put salt in the jar and stirred it until the salt couldn't dissolve anymore and the water became saturated. Then we tied a piece of string to a pencil and put the pencil and the string in the water. We waited for a few days and observed the salt growing bigger and forming crystals. There were crystals on the string and and on the bottom of the jar. It was so cool!

Rocks and Minerals

In science we are learning about Rocks and Minerals!! In our classroom we have a poster with 66 pictures of rocks and minerals and their names. They are all different colors and sizes and shapes . They are so beautiful! We are excited to learn more about rocks and minerals. Our class has our own rock exhibit where we can bring rocks and look at them with a magnifying glass during class.

Genius Hour

We are researching whatever we want during Genius Hour. We can use a laptop, or a iPad or a computer to research our questions we may have. Some of us want to research how to do a back flip on a trampoline, how a clock knows when to move its hour and minute hands, and how games are made!!

Getting Ready for Parent Teacher Interviews.

We have been making our portfolios this week to get ready for parent-teacher interviews. We take out something from each of our duo-tangs and we show them to our parents because we are proud of our work, We filled out a self evaluation and wrote a letter to our parents too. It makes us feel excited to be able to show our parents what we do at school.

A Snowy Week

Last week we had lots of snow! We even got to have a snow day! There were not a lot of students at school that day so we got did reading and Mathletics in the morning. In the afternoon we got to chose to watch Evan Almighty or The Secret Life of Pets. We also got to have an extra gym class with the other grade 3/4 students.
